The busiest stalls were the smokiest; serving up flame-grilled brochettes.

Gate to the Royal Palace http://www.wildroad.com.au/galleries/morocco-photos/gate-to-the-royal-palace-fez-morocco/ http://www.wildroad.com.au/galleries/morocco-photos/gate-to-the-royal-palace-fez-morocco/#respond Mon, 10 Sep 2012 14:50:28 +0000 http://localhost:8888/?post_type=product&p=562 The famous golden doors to the Royal Palace in Fez, no public allowed. While tourists could happily snap away at this angle, about 50 metres to the left, photography is not allowed, and the guards were quite vigilant in chasing people away if their lens strayed too far. I doubt that it's possible to stop everyone given the thousands of tourists that pass by every year.

I used a Singh Ray Gold N Blue polarizer for this shot, in order to colour the reflections of the door, and enhance the gold tones.

This particular pool is located in the depths of the new Hassan II Mosque, Casablanca. Construction was completed in 1993, but no-one has been allowed to bathe yet.

Lions of the Atlas http://www.wildroad.com.au/galleries/morocco-photos/lions-of-the-atlas-essaouira-morocco/ http://www.wildroad.com.au/galleries/morocco-photos/lions-of-the-atlas-essaouira-morocco/#respond Mon, 10 Sep 2012 14:56:35 +0000 http://localhost:8888/?post_type=product&p=572 Football is the national sporting obsession of Morocco. In the afternoon hordes of enthusiastic fans descend on the beach at the coastal town of Essaouira. Soon after makeshift pitches spring up wherever there is space, and rowdy competition ensues.

I wanted to create a relaxed Sunday-afternoon mood with this photo. To emphasise this in post processing, I pushed the brightness higher for a high-key image, and applied a gentle gaussian blur layer, which creates a similar effect to a diffusion filter. Overall this gives the image a muted, dreamy effect.

The Moroccan countryside was surprisingly fertile and green. I was experimenting with the Singh Ray Gold N Blue polarizer, which gives the sky a surreal appearance.

Magic Pool http://www.wildroad.com.au/galleries/morocco-photos/magic-pool-fes-morocco/ http://www.wildroad.com.au/galleries/morocco-photos/magic-pool-fes-morocco/#respond Mon, 10 Sep 2012 14:44:01 +0000 http://localhost:8888/?post_type=product&p=552 An old temple in Fes, Morocco. When standing at one end of the pool, there was magic at work which made the bottom appear deep at the other end, and progressively shallower towards the viewer. The situation would reverse when walking to the other side, which was unusual as the pool had a flat bottom.
