In the far north the mountains are terraced to the ridgelines, cut by hand over centuries, and in the weeks before harvest the whole valley turns gold.

On the coast, limestone karst rises straight out of the sea in the thousands — the same rock as the inland ranges, drowned when the sea came up. Between them, a long thin country that changes climate three times.
