Honeymoon Bay
Freycinet National Park, Tasmania, Australia
The first and only sunrise from a typical trip to Tasmania (ie. wet, cold and windy!). Just as the sun peeked above the horizon, the surrounding sky turned purple for a few minutes before being lost in the drab, overcast clouds.
In this composition, the line of the rocks in the near island and the far bank align nicely to create a strong diagonal. A graduated neutral density filter was required to tame the sky exposure.
